England and New Zealand are set to meet in the opener of the four-match T20I series. The Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street will host the clash on Wednesday 30 August.
England had previously picked three No Limits players: Josh Tongue, John Turner and Gus Atkinson for the T20I series. However, Tongue and Turner suffered injuries and were written out of the series.
The hosts have hired Chris Jordan as a replacement. The Three Lions have a batting lineup to envy; it includes the likes of Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Will Jacks, and Jonny Bairstow, among others.
They have also picked up-and-coming Rehan Ahmed, but he is unlikely to play the opening game ahead of Adil Rashid. Dawid Malan is another reliable figure in England’s T20I line-up.
New Zealand, led by Tim Southee, will be very confident after beating Worcestershire and Gloucestershire in warm-up matches. Several of their key players, who did not play against the United Arab Emirates, have returned.
