As the Spanish women’s soccer team, winner of the World Cup, took the stage to receive their medals, the head of Spanish soccer kissed midfielder Jenni Hermoso on the lips.
An image of the moment quickly circulated on the networks and since then Luis Rubiales has faced a storm of criticism.
The player described the kiss as non-consensual, while Rubiales, after initially apologizing, said that he would not give in to requests that he resign from his position.
